“Emerald Grove ; born in Sterlingshire, Scotland, in 1810; came to America in 1843; located on the farm he now owns of 240 acres. In 1849, married Miss Margaret More, of Johnstown. He served as Supervisor of Johnstown many years ; raises Durham grades and Clyde horses ; he owns Clydesdale stallion.”
