• “Y,„ Aug. 24, 1845 ; son of Adam A. Hilton, whose father was a brave soldier in the Revolutionary war, Adam- served in the war of 1812 ; he died in March, 1853, in Belvidere, 111. The family started West in 1853; went to Chicago and purchased teams, from there to Beloit, and finally settled on 100 acres in Beloit Township. Then moved to another farm of 160 acres ; after two years, moved five miles west of Beloit, and settled on farm of 160 acres, and afterward moved to town of Turtle.”
