• “CHARLES B. CONRAD, grocer; born in Janesville Aug. 29, 1848; son of Charles H. Conrad, a native of Canada ; an early settler in Janesville, where he was engaged in business as a carpenter and joiner ; built a large flouring-mill, where the post office now stands, and, for many years, carried on an extensive grocery business ; he died Apiil 27, 1877.”
