• “Our subject's father was educated in his native place and in Cortland county, New York, whither his parents removed in his youth. There he married first Miss Laura Cleveland, who died in 1835, leaving one child, Mary Jane, who is married to Ira Kinney. On June 9, 1839, he married ]\Iiss Lovina Cravath and continued to reside in New York until 1842, when he moved to Rock county in the then territory of Wisconsin and settled on eighty acres of land in Section 14 in what is now Lima township, but then a part of Milton.”
