• “The residents now number about one hundred and fifty persons, and appear very well to do. Among tlie institutions of the village is a fine frame church, built in 1847 for a Free Church, at a cost of about $2,000. The first minister was Elder Mills, who came and preached there about the time the church was finished, but the pastorate is vacant at present.”
