• “Ole P. Gaarder, one of Rock county's substantial and representative citizens, was born in Spring Valley township, on the farm where he now resides, July 9, 1844. He is a son of Peter and Randine (Gaarder) Gaarder, who, soon after their marriage, immigrated from Norway, their native land, to this country, the ocean voyage being more than thirteen weeks.”
