• “Reared on a farm from his birth, he is in the fullest sense a practical farmer who has learned from his years of experience the secrets of success. A son of John W. and Angelina (Beckwith) Lathers, he was born on the family homestead in Turtle township in 1859. His father, who now (1907) lives in retirement from active work, is of German descent, while the mother, who died in 1903, was of English lineage.”
