• “The first telegraph wire running into Janesville was from Milwaukee, in 1848. The electric telegraph began working in Janesville on the 15th of December, and did " an active business." The Gazette observes : " Our business men are very generally availing themselves of the facilities offered by this truly wonderful agent of instantaneous communication with their correspondents abroad.”
