• “New York, then on the site of the Astor House. After studying law one year, he determined upon a more complete preliminary education, and in 1822 began to prepare for college at the academy in Norwalk, Conn. He remained here four years, and then, in September, 1826, entered the freshman class of Yale college, where he continued four years more, going through the entire collegiate course, and graduating with his class in September, 1830.”
