• “Beloit ; born in County Kent, England, in 1822. Came to America in 1849 and remained in New York and New Jersey till 1859, when he came to Beloit; he was engaged as a farm hand till 1864 ; he then bought forty acres of land in Sec. 21, with residence and barn. He married, in England, Charlotta Cloak ; they had ten children ; she died in Beloit in 1871 ; he married again, in 1878, Eliza Jones.”
