• “Matthew Bennett; services were held in private homes for some years. In 1854 a meeting was held, and it was decided to build a house of worship, which was finished that year, at the cost of $1,500, Peter McEwan giving the site. The church has had a large membership, which at times has fallen off, only again to regain its lost strength.”
