Summer 1821
The Six Nations, St. Regis, Stockbridge and Munsee nations, by permission of the United States government, purchased lands from the Menominee and Winnebago nations near Green Bay, on the west side of Michigan Lake, under government patronage and aid; the General Government confirmed their title. One passage, however, states that the Oneida and Stockbridge Indians settled near Green Bay in 1821 and purchased lands there "in the subsequent year," placing the purchase in 1822.
