The parents moved from New York, their native state, to Rock county, Wisconsin, in 1842, and settled on a quarter section of land in Fulton township, which the father entered from the United States government and improved. Here he reared his family and passed the remainder of his life, his death occurring on August 18, 1875. His wife died at the family home October 25, 1872.
