The government gave a fairly good pension to him in the last thirty years of his life for services in the Civil War and for the last half of this time it came by special act of Congress for d AT meritorious services. He was laid in Seattle by the side of his wife, who preceded him to a better world on the 23rd of December, 1913. He came to Wisconsin with the others of the family sharing his part of the hardships in that long and tedious journey and afterwards in our pioneer life.
