The detachment consisting of Company E, and others, previously mentioned, which returned from furlough too. late to join the Red River expedition, were attached to the seventeenth corps in March, 1864, being known as " Worden's Battalion." Moving with that corps up the Mississippi, they joined Sherman's army in the Atlanta campaign. The fragments of companies rejoined the regiment at I^Tashville in ITovember, 1864, while Company E, under command of Captain Henry, went with the army as .guard to a pontoon train, through Savannah, and finally returned to the regiment at Montgomery, July 16th, 1865. The regiment arrived at Mobile August 27th, and, October 9th, were mustered out, and returning to "Wisconsin, received their pay and were disbanded.
